Find the Book Coach Who Will Make You a Better Writer

We have more than 160 certified book coaches who work in time zones all over the world and who offer a variety of programs, pricing, and personalities.

These coaches have been certified after a rigorous training program that includes more than 100 hours of coursework and hands-on coaching, so we know they are all good at what they do.

In addition, they all must sign an agreement about being compassionate toward writers and acting with integrity because those are core values of our company.

Find a Book Coach Based On
13 Search Criteria

You can search for your best-fit book coach by choosing one or more criteria from the following list:

  1. Coaching style

  2. Services

  3. Courses

  4. Genre

  5. Reader age category

  6. Coach capacity for new clients

  7. Languages

  8. Time zone

  9. LGBTQ+ topics

  10. Religious topics

  11. Political topics

  12. Low/Mid/High touch

  13. Coach certification genre

There will also be other fields that populate as you search (i.e., searching for genre brings up a long list of genres), which will give you additional information about the coaches, but these 13 are the best to start with.

Want to learn more about working with a Book Coach? These FAQs are for you!

  • All of our book coaches are highly skilled and trained, but how will you know which is the right match for you? The right book coach for you will be:

    • Excited about your project and the prospect of working with you

    • Able to offer a package or service that will help you move your book forward

    • Prepared to coach in a style that suits your needs

Our searchable directory gives you the power to find that coach.

  • A book coach helps you meet your writing goals. They will work with you throughout the creative process, depending on what you need.

    Your goals might include:

    • Getting support to start a book with confidence

    • Investing in your project from the start so that it reflects your best ideas

    • Getting feedback as you write forward to make the writing process as efficient as possible

    • Getting accountability to keep your project on track

    • Getting strategic insight into the publishing process so you can make the best choice for your project

    • Getting help with developmental edits to clean up a finished manuscript

    • Getting help revising a manuscript once you know the development edits you need to make

    • Making sure the creative process isn’t quite so lonely

    • Overcoming doubt and resistance

    • Getting assistance to query agents in order to seek a traditional publishing deal

    • Getting guidance on submitting to a hybrid publisher or preparing a book for independent/self publishing

  • The investment for book coaching can vary by coach and project. The book coaches are not employees of Author Accelerator, so we neither track nor mandate their pricing. Here are some notes on pricing to prepare you for your book coaching journey:

    • Monthly coaching programs typically start at $400 USD per month, but can range up to $1,000 USD per month or even more, depending on the level of support or customization involved. The more hands-on the help you require (what we call “high touch”), the higher the fees are likely to be. Lower-touch services will be lower priced.

    • A manuscript evaluation or edit is typically priced per page, and can range from $5-15 USD per page.

    • Many coaches also offer introductory services at lower rates to help you jumpstart the writing process and experience what coaching is like before committing to a larger package. We also have coaches who offer courses you can take to both get to know the coach and fulfill the learning objectives of that coursework. Courses and mini courses can range in price from tens to hundreds, even thousands of dollars.

    • This service is not for writers who are looking for a guarantee, because there are no guarantees in publishing.

    • It’s not for writers who are looking for coaches to give them contacts in the publishing industry, such as inside access to agents or editors at publishing houses.

    • It’s not for writers who are looking for ghostwriters, co-authors, or publishing deals from a book coach.

    • It’s not for writers who only wish to work with coaches who have written a bestselling book themselves. Coaching is its own skill, and not every good writer is a good book coach.

    • It’s not for writers who only wish to work with coaches whose clients have written bestselling books. We do not believe that is the only metric for a good coach, nor is it indicative of how another writer’s book will perform in the marketplace.

  • All over the world! We currently have coaches based in 11 countries and even more students (soon-to-be coaches) around the world, so time-zone conflicts won’t be an issue. Check out our map below: Coaches are in the orange countries; students are in the teal.

Would you rather be matched with a book coach by hand?

We provide that service for $50 USD. It works like this:

Step 1: Share

The first step is to share information about your project. You’ll start by filling out our matching application (which includes the nonrefundable $50 USD application fee for administrative services) and sending us a writing sample. You’ll tell us about your book, any writing experience, your goals, and your preferences. We find this can be as helpful for you as it is for us, because it’s an opportunity to solidify your project goals.

Be sure to save your answers to our intake form; you will probably repeat many of them once we match you with a coach.

New to Writing?

No worries! You can send other writing, like a sample of blog posts, or tell us about your idea. We welcome new writers and have book coaches in our directory who cater to brand new writers. While it is most helpful to see a sample from your current project, it can also help us to see how you express yourself if you don’t have a sample yet.

Step 2: Select

We will review your application and select the book coaches who would be a good fit for your project. Our matching isn’t instant because it’s done by a human trained in our matching process who knows our coaches well, so expect to wait 1-2 business days. We will put together a list of 3-4 book coaches who meet your criteria.

Step 3: Be Matched

Be on the lookout for an email with the subject “A List of Book Coaches for You” from us at accelerate (at) authoraccelerator (dot) com.

We’ll send you the book coaches’ names and websites, and you can connect with your chosen coach(es) from there. This is what we send in its entirety; the benefit of having us find matches is that we know our coaches and can add that personal touch.

When you reach out to the coaches, be prepared to give some of the same information to them that you gave to us. Most coaches have their own intake process that is different from ours.

Note: The book coaches are not our employees. Once we send the matches, it’s up to them to work with you to get you started. We will not be able to send any worksheets or coaching materials on behalf of the coaches.

Step 4: Get Coached!

If you and your matched book coach are a mutual fit, you can start working together!

Your book coach will walk you through an onboarding process, and then you can get to work on your book with the guidance and support of a trained, certified book coach.

Got questions? Check out our FAQs, and if any additional questions crop up during the matching process, feel free to ask.
