Landing a Book Deal

Writer Julie Nichols and her book coach, Laraine Herring, are celebrating the news that Julie has landed a book deal for her literary fiction book.

How were you involved in Julie’s writing process leading up to publication?

I coached Julie from the first draft of her book.

What are you most proud of in this coaching relationship?

Julie's dedication and discipline. She had a commitment to these characters and to this project that helped her get through the times when it felt like it was not worth finishing.

What advice do you have for writers when it comes to landing a book deal?

Put the time and patience in to craft the best book possible, and don’t minimize the importance of platform and networking.

Do you have any advice for coaches working to help writers land a book deal?

Be very cognizant of the psychological challenges writers have around success and the ways they tend to get in their own way.

What’s next for the book?

She will have to go through another round of edits with the editor at the publishing house. It will likely be available in 2024!

Congratulations to Laraine and Julie!

Be on the lookout for Julie’s book, Ben and Rebecca, coming soon to store shelves!
