The Author Accelerator 3-Day Writing Retreat

Jennie Nash specializes in helping writers break through to a deeper level on their book projects. She is inviting serious writers in any genre to join her for an intensive retreat, with personalized guidance before, during, and after the event. Whether you want to start a book that’s calling your name, rescue a book that’s in danger of dying, get a chunk of good writing done, plan the revision for a draft you’ve just finished, or strategize your pitch plan, you can draw energy, ideas and inspiration from a small group of like-minded writers.

Where is it? Austin, Texas -- the city hums with creative energy! We’ve rented a house near the University to serve as our weekend headquarters. We’ll write there, meet there, eat together there, and head to outings from there.
When is it? May 30-June 2 2019
How much is it? $1500 including meals (Participants are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. We have a list of great suggestions at several price points.)
Who else will be there? No more than 20 awesome writers who are committed to taking a giant leap forward in their own work, plus Author Accelerator managing editor Laura Franzini; Author Accelerator community organizer Abby Mathews; and Author Accelerator founder and chief creative officer, Jennie Nash.

BEFORE THE RETREAT
In April, you will be sent a project workbook to complete and return to Author Accelerator by Monday, April 29, 2019. Jennie will review your workbook before the retreat and send an email in May with suggestions on how to write forward during our time together. The workbook will ask you to outline your project, identify any perceived challenges you are experiencing, and share up to 12 pages of work.
AT THE RETREAT
We will start on the evening of Thursday, May 30. You are invited to a cocktail hour with Jennie and the coaches at the house.
Over the long weekend, enjoy
several scheduled inspirational talks by Jennie Nash and managing editor Laura Franzini
a 90-minute “speed dating session” where you get real-time feedback on your top challenge from other retreat participants
a one-on-one coaching session with Jennie
blocks of time to write in our designated “quiet spaces,” or you may choose to write in one of Austin’s many 24-hour coffee shops or at one of the University’s libraries
plenty of time to brainstorm and mingle with other like-minded writers
We will start each morning with breakfast at the house. Coffee, tea, and bottled water will be provided throughout the day, as well as healthy snacks and a light lunch.
In the evening, everyone is invited to come back together for dinner, cocktails, and time to connect with your fellow writers.
On Sunday morning we will host a breakfast at the house for one last hurrah before the retreat officially ends at 10 am.
+ Where will I stay?
Please let us know if you would like to be connected to other retreat participants who would like to share an Airbnb. Or we can suggest Hotel Eleven, a boutique hotel that is located about a mile away from the retreat.
+ How will I get there?
If you aren’t within driving distance to Austin, TX, we suggest flying in to Austin’s Austin-Bergstrom airport. Most major airlines fly to Austin, including JetBlue, Spirit, and Southwest.
+ What happens if I can't attend the retreat?
We offer a 30-day cancellation window. This means that within the first 30 days, you can cancel your participation in our writing retreat with a full refund, minus an administration fee. If you decide to cancel within 30-days of the start of the retreat, there are no refunds given, as it is unlikely that, due to the nature of the in-person retreats- we will be able to fill your seat. If you find yourself needing to cancel in the window between, Author Accelerator will grant a 50% refund. Author Accelerator offers highly structured programs that are not right for all writers. Consequently, we reserve the right to refuse service to any prospective or existing customer if we feel the retreat isn’t the right fit for you. If the cancelation is on our part, we will honor a refund.
