I love helping other writers reach their potential!

What is your favorite part of the coaching process?

It's all pretty special, but my favorite part is working through the challenges. There are many! Overcoming those obstacles together is very fulfilling.

What's your coaching style like?

I like to build confidence in my writers while pointing out the things about their writing that need work.

What genres do you love to edit?

Young adult, middle grade, women's fiction, romance

What do you love most about editing?

I love helping other writers reach their potential!

Who's your ideal writer match? What are you looking for in a coaching client?

My ideal writer match would be someone who not only wants to tell his/her story, but NEEDS to tell it, because it's personal to them in some way. Bonus points if it contains magical realism and/or romance.

What was the moment when you felt like a real book coach?

When a client I'd been working with for almost a year typed THE END on her first manuscript. It made me teary-eyed! She worked so hard, and I'm so proud of her.

What genres do you love to read?

Magical realism, young adult, poetry, middle grade, women's fiction, romance, funny nonfiction

What are five of your favorite books?

ONLY FIVE? How do I choose? OK...

  • Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami

  • Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen

  • The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

  • We Were Here by Matt de la Pena

  • The Captain's Verses by Pablo Neruda

Who are five of your favorite authors?

Gah, again with the five?! Let's see, besides the ones listed above...

  • Aimee Bender

  • Gabriel Garcia Marquez

  • Isabelle Allende

  • Alice Walker

  • A.S. King

If you could meet any author, who would it be and why?

Her Royal Highness J.K. Rowling. Besides the fact that I've read everything she's ever written, I think she is an incredibly brave and lovely human. Her journey to becoming an author has always been inspiring to me.
