Author Accelerator CEO Jennie Nash Explains Why We Made This Searchable Book Coach Directory
The short answer? Choosing a book coach is a very personal decision. We don’t want writers selecting coaches based only on price or only on the successes that the coach themselves may have had in the marketplace. Great book coaches come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a variety of experiences to their work. Presenting our coaches in this way allows you to find the coach who can best help you achieve your goals.

The investment for book coaching can vary by coach and project. The book coaches are not employees of Author Accelerator, so we neither track nor mandate their pricing. Here are some notes on pricing to prepare you for your book coaching journey:
Monthly coaching programs typically start at $400 USD per month, but can range up to $1,000 USD per month or even more, depending on the level of support or customization involved. The more hands-on the help you require (what we call “high touch”), the higher the fees are likely to be. Lower-touch services will be lower priced.
A manuscript evaluation or edit is typically priced per page, and can range from $5-15 USD per page.
Many coaches also offer introductory services at lower rates to help you jumpstart the writing process and experience what coaching is like before committing to a larger package. We also have coaches who offer courses you can take to both get to know the coach and fulfill the learning objectives of that coursework. Courses and mini courses can range in price from tens to hundreds, even thousands of dollars.

This service is not for writers who are looking for a guarantee, because there are no guarantees in publishing.
It’s not for writers who are looking for coaches to give them contacts in the publishing industry, such as inside access to agents or editors at publishing houses.
It’s not for writers who are looking for ghostwriters, co-authors, or publishing deals from a book coach.
It’s not for writers who only wish to work with coaches who have written a bestselling book themselves. Coaching is its own skill, and not every good writer is a good book coach.
It’s not for writers who only wish to work with coaches whose clients have written bestselling books. We do not believe that is the only metric for a good coach, nor is it indicative of how another writer’s book will perform in the marketplace.

All over the world! We currently have coaches based in 11 countries and even more students (soon-to-be coaches) around the world, so time-zone conflicts won’t be an issue. Check out our map below: Coaches are in the orange countries; students are in the teal.

Would You Rather We Match You With A Book Coach?
Step 1: Share
The first step is to share information about your project. You’ll start by filling out our matching application (which includes the nonrefundable $50 application fee for administrative services) and sending us a writing sample. You’ll tell us about your book, any writing experience, your goals, and your preferences. We find this can be as helpful for you as it is for us, because it’s an opportunity to solidify your project goals.
PRO TIP: Be sure to save your answers to our intake form; you will probably repeat many of them once we match you with a coach.
New to Writing? No worries! You can send other writing, like a sample of blog posts, or tell us about your idea. We welcome new writers and have book coaches in our directory who cater to brand new writers. While it is most helpful to see a sample from your current project, it can also help us to see how you express yourself if you don’t have a sample yet.
Step 2: Select
We will review your application and select the book coaches who would be a good fit for your project. Our matching isn’t instant because it’s done by a human trained in our matching process who knows our coaches well, so expect to wait 1-2 business days. We will put together a list of 3-4 book coaches who meet your criteria.
Step 3: Be Matched
Be on the lookout for an email with the subject “A List of Book Coaches for You” from us at accelerate (at) authoraccelerator (dot) com.
We’ll send you the book coaches’ names and websites, and you can connect with your chosen coach(es) from there. This is what we send in its entirety; the benefit of having us find matches is that we know our coaches and can add that personal touch.
When you reach out to the coaches, be prepared to give some of the same information to them that you gave to us. Most coaches have their own intake process that is different from ours.
Note: The book coaches are not our employees. Once we send the matches, it’s up to them to work with you to get you started. We will not be able to send any worksheets or coaching materials on behalf of the coaches.
Step 4: Get Coached!
If you and your matched book coach are a mutual fit, you can start working together!
Your book coach will walk you through an onboarding process, and then you can get to work on your book with the guidance and support of a trained, certified book coach.
Got questions? Check out our FAQs, and if any additional questions crop up during the matching process, feel free to ask.
