Even coaches need a coach to finish their book

A book coach helps you to look at your own ideas from a different standpoint. Sometimes, you get so locked into a particular view, you need someone else to open the shutters and say, "What could it look like if you...?" That's what Amy Goldmacher, Author Accelerator certified book coach, did for me as I wrote my nonfiction book, even though we live on opposite coasts of the Atlantic ocean, and in time-zones five hours apart.

What do you do when you’re ready for a change not just in your job, but in your career path?

This was the question I faced in 2020. Having worked in sustainable agriculture for over a decade, and feeling disillusioned after surviving an organizational restructure, I decided it was time for something new. After some discernment I had decided that I wanted to pursue one of my passions: books!

AI cannot save you from yourself: That is what I always told myself when I watched Generative AI (GenAI) tools to aid writers burst onto the market.

Different from the spell checking grammar tools, GenAI allows users to create realistic looking photos, illustrations, and swaths of text of virtually anything they want. Not only are AI companies making bank of their subscriptions, but some unscrupulous end users are plagiarizing established authors to profit off their good name.

As a distinctly human writer and book coach, I couldn’t help but feel the existential doom.

Amy L. Bernstein draws on a three-decade career as a professional nonfiction writer and, more recently, as a playwright and novelist. She helps authors showcase their expertise and point of view in compelling ways.
